General Housing Advice

The following general housing advice was provided by past program participants...

  • "When you first arrive there is an orientation meeting with Thai students. They will help you look at good apartments in the area and are very helpful in getting you set up with a contract. Make use of these student helpers!"
  • "Housing was easy to find near the Tha Prachan campus...I was in an apartment within three days of arriving in Bangkok. I had prepaid a night longer in the hotel than was even necessary! It was a very smooth transition."
  • "Everyone had secured housing within the first couple of days."
  • "It is cheaper to live with a roommate."
  • "Be sure you like your apartment because you will have to sign a lease for at least 3-6 months."
  • "Apartment buildings usually have a laundry service, but it may be pricey." "Some apartments do not have a kitchen, so food will be bought on the street, or in the restaurant or lobby area of the apartment complex."
  • "Apartments usually have air-conditioning, but you can buy fans to save yourself money on utilities."
  • "Apartments tend to have the option of having a TV and/or a refrigerator for a monthly charge. Cable TV may be available, but channel selection varies by apartment buildings."
  • "Buy sheets and pillows at Pata department store or a whole sale place on the corner of Arun Amarin Road. You will not need a blanket or comforter because it is too hot."
